Iceland Daylight Hours

Iceland sits just south of the Arctic Circle, which means daylight hours shift dramatically across the year. In late June, Reykjavík experiences nearly 24 hours of light — the midnight sun is visible from roughly 20 May to 25 July. By contrast, in December the sun rises around 11am and sets by 3:30pm. The winter darkness creates the long blue twilight that makes Iceland’s landscapes so otherworldly. For aurora hunting, the long dark nights of September through March provide the best conditions.
